    • First time I hear this funny funny story! Christmas has changed a lot through the years, and it’s the memories of wonderful Christmases of long ago that sustain me this wonderful time of the year. Yes, it’s a time to pause and to reflect, and to forgive. Time to turn the music on and let it play and enjoy every single minute. Thanks for sharing, Jeff.

  2. last year I time traveled in my dreams to Siberia. Can you imagine winters in SIberia? From where my g-grandma came from, or rather, escaped from. Snow, TALL CLEAN TREES, no one around…stone house, simplicity,, garden…ahhh………..Getting a tree in the middle of nowhere in Russia would be fun…

  3. Jeff, great story! I’m in Colorado Springs and last year we headed up into the national forest in Woodland Park and trudged through snow up to our chest to bring home our “Charlie Brown” tree. Lots of great memories, for sure! Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

  4. Hello Jeff,
I am a former fellow Coloradan. I lived in Longmont and cut our last tree near Black Hawk. Going out and cutting a tree is so special. Now I live in Belize, no snow and no Christmas trees, as we know it. I am watching every video and using your book to do my first launch.
    Thank you,

  5. Oh my goodness, Jeff, this is an absolute hoot!

You so illustrate the power of a compelling story! Thank you so much for the chuckles and even laugh.

I so enjoyed how you told this! What’s so cool is that I loved and appreciated this story although I’ve never had a Christmas tree (since I’m Jewish).

But you universalized this in an awesome way.

Happy Holidays! (You may want to see this cartoon from top cartoonist, which she created for my peeps, who celebrate Christmas, Chanukah or another holiday.)

Thanks again for the good laugh..

  6. Ha! That would have been a good addition to the Griswald Family Christmas movie!! Merry Christmas to you and your family Jeff! Thanks for the laughs!

  7. Wishing you, Mary, and the kids the Merriest of Christmases, Jeff. And I look forward to your weekly greetings in 2017.
I live in Hawai`i and my extended family (ages 1 to 95) comes together on Long Island, so the value of the Holidays is not lost on me. This year I can’t join them. But the reason I’m always willing to spend the money, take the red-eye, haul the warm clothes over an ocean and a continent, rent the expensive car at JFK, and endure the holiday travel congestion just to sit in rooms with loved ones….is….just to sit in rooms with loved ones. If not for Christmas, there would be no time of year that brings families back together. There would be no moments when we ALL reunite just because we’re family. What I cherish about Christmas is exactly what you talked about, just being together. To hang out for hours and hours in a toasty room full of teasing, jesting, feasting, familiarity, memory, and marveling at how tall or wide people have grown, is as good as it gets. And worth any amount of time, money, and distance. I’m beginning to understand why the old folks are content to just sit and take it all in. Mele Kalikimaka and God Bless.

    • So much heart and love hearing about what you do to be with family. Yes, it’s all worth it just to be with our loved ones. 🙂

  8. Aloha Jeff and Team Walker,
Mele Kalikimaka from our Hawaii home to yours! What a beautiful story and message! We’re enjoying a white Christmas as well – Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa are covered in snow . In our cultural tradition, it’s a time for peace-making and to “make medicine.”

Wishing you and your families a beautiful holiday season and many blessings for the new year!

  9. Jeff, the story is comical and interesting. It just took a long time to tell it. Merry
Christmas to you and your loved ones.

  10. Great story, Jeff — thanks for sharing it, you made me smile…you’re right, it’s all about family. Your message re peace is right on; thanks for a heartwearming post; well done as always. I’m posting from here in colorado spgs the day before Christmas; your message is great — thank you! 🙂

  12. Haha! I love those funny stories and how kids get forever humor about a mistake a parent has made 🎄 Wishing you and your family the best holiday season ever!

  13. Merry Christmas to you and your family! At the time of the incident, It was only a tree but you still had the most important and what matters intact…YOUR FAMILY! What an Awesome Story, great that you did find the tree as it would have been terrible to go back for another adventure of locating another perfect tree.

  20. Jeff, that was a wonderful, meaningful story and an awesome message!! And that was wayyy too big a disclaimer you did: please don’t be in any way apologetic – or feel you have to justify -sharing a Christmas story, or purposely ignore Christmas in your message just because not everyone celebrates it! You need to be YOU on social media and communicate the values and traditions that you believe in! (And know that many people around the world are right there with you!). Merry Christmas!!🎄🎄🎄

  21. Thank you for a sweet Christmas story and especially for your wishes and message of peace Jeff. So fun to hear about your family in your story…quite endearing. 🙂 Wishing you and everyone, whether you celebrate Christmas or another tradition, so much peace and forgiveness also as this year comes to a close and we enter into 2017. Love and tenderness in this season is such a good reminder of what is real and what really endures.

  24. Enjoying quality time with family is the best. The “tree that got away” is a funny memory you all get to share together year after year. Thanks for this message, Jeff – Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  25. As I sit upstairs readying myself for bed after a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner with my family, I am delighted I opened your email and watch the story about your lost tree.

Life is about the stories we tell ourselves and share with others. Thank you so much for this story and the support you share with us week after week.

Merry Christmas and much peace on earth,

  26. Merry Christmas Jeff. Now I don’t feel soo silly. In fact, this just happens this Christmas Eve. Here is my story of “The Christmas Cards that was Never Lost.”

My wife usually handles all the Christmas cards and send it to family and friend to Thailand (we’re in Houston). Well this year while I dropped off the packages, I also dropped off the cards. The two days later my wife asked me where the cards were. I told her I mailed them. Then she kind of freaked out and gave me “the look” and said “did you not notice that there were no stamps.” Oh $%#, I thought… obviously, I did not feel soo chippy and sooo smart. So hopefully they will return it to us for postage. We waited and waited for the mail to be return back to sender for postage but they never came.

So yesterday Chrismas Eve, her friend and sister in law message us to and thank us for the Christmas Cards…. and we totally freaked out. But then we thought about the big package, the one for her mom, brother, and other families member.. we thought surely that will not get there (because it was a big package). But sure enough, it made it. And if I did not mail it that day without the stamps, then they would not have gotten the cards before Christmas.

So this is my Christmas story of “The Christmas Cards that were never lost.” Thanks for sharing the Tree story, I do not feel soooo silly now. Going though you PLF training now.

Merry Christmas and May God Bless You and Your Family….
And to all your blog followeres from around the world.

Thanks for sharing this humorous story that will stick with you forever. One of my favorite memories from my childhood was the year my sister, age 4 or 5 at the time, was uncomfortable with strangers in the house. She told my Mom and Dad that it was OK if Santa brought us presents for Christmas,…but to make sure they took the presents from him at the door and not to let him in our house. She did add that they could give him milk and cookies, but to-go. Merry CHRISTmas to you and your family, Jeff. Thanks for what you do to make a positive impact in the lives of others. Keep making a difference…

  45. Thank you for sharing! Really funny and speaks a lot about our behvaiour and thought patterns 🙂
Christmas is actually much greater than just one religion as it is the very old known astronomical solstice time, thus also scientifically meaningful for all the Earth people.

  46. Jeff, I heard the story for the first time in 2021. The story is as revelant today as when it was first posted. I send you peace and blessing this holiday seasing and I send the same to me.

Jeff, tha nk you for the story! it made me giggle . I am always amazed at how the Universe gives us those lessons in humility. A little late as I was celebrating with our friends (in Baja this year!) yet with all. my heart a happy holiday season to you and your loved ones. May 2022 continue to shower you all with blessings, amazing experiences , joy and laughter.

  50. Same here for me as a kid, we lived in the country but in Australia no fear on the drive but we would cut down a tree, no permit needed. The pine trees we use as Christmas trees in Australia are not native and not loved much. Thanks for the memories this story bought back.

  51. Thank you for sharing this lovely heartwarming & funny family story.
Peace, Love, Forgiveness, Health, Prosperity & deep Gratitude to You and your family, Jeff throughout 2022.
