In the business world, there are a lot of folks that are all about “getting theirs”. They often think that there’s not enough to go around, so they’ve gotta take that piece of the pie before someone else does. But what I don’t understand is why they’re trying to get the biggest piece instead of just making a bigger pie. Here’s what I mean…

So I started my first online business a long time ago in 1996. It was great. It went along, we were growing, it was getting better and better, and then I got to that time where I'm like, “I am done doing this alone. I'm sick of doing this alone.”

What I mean by that, I've had friends in the community, I had friends, I had been in a couple of masterminds, but I decided to take it to the next level. The way I like to say it is, I realized I needed a band. And so I started my Plat Plus Group and that group was the start of everything. This is back in 2010. Many of the people that joined me in 2010 are still in that group and it's become a powerhouse in the industry.

And then a few years later I created Launch Club and it's been this unbelievable community and all these innovations are coming out of it.

And so I've got these two incredible communities that I show up and I serve and I help them and they're getting great results, but it also serves me because I created the perfect communities that I wanted to be part of.  And since that time, most of the big innovations in the launching and conversion world have come out of those groups.

And now we're at LaunchCon. I do this event once a year. I'm on stage there, it's a lunch break, and I'm shooting this for you. This event is all about us, Launch Club, Plat Plus, myself, sharing the best, the latest, the newest of what we've got. And you're like, well why are you giving it all away Jeff? The reality is, what we've learned as a community is that instead of grabbing our piece of the pie, when you give it away, you grow the pie. And that's what we're doing here. We've been growing the pie. And the funny thing – this all ties back.

My business has never been bigger, more profitable, better. My events have never been bigger. We're all these years in. And how does that keep on happening? By growing the pie.  And it all goes back to that one decision. When I decided that I wasn't going to do it alone. When I decided that I was going to create these great communities that would feed me. It all just came down to that one decision.

That's what business is, really. It's a series of decisions and being able to throw your hat over the fence, if you know that term. You throw your hat over the fence, then you have to go over the fence to get it. But first it starts with throwing your hat over the fence.

The question is, what decision are you going to make? What's that one decision? What decision are you going to make to move yourself forward?

I'm Jeff Walker, wherever you're watching this, scroll down, leave a comment for me. Tell me what the decision is going to be and let's go get ‘em this week.

  1. Hi Jeff.

It’s Liam Carolan. That guy you kept running into (off program time) at PLF events. Walking from one building (or room) to another…

I swear to God, I still do not know why that happened so many times – I didn’t plan it.
Maybe God set the stage for this moment right now.

I am so glad that you are still going strong.
To whom much is given, much is expected.
You deliver. You have also managed to escape
the labels of the pretentious marketing judges.

It’s my prayer that you continue to inspire, to teach, to learn and to love.

You are living in the spirit.

    Thanks.

  2. Thanks Jeff for the timely reminder to grow a bigger pie. When I was nine years old and my parents wouldn’t let me join the Brownies (girl scouts) I went to the library and got out all the books on what fun things brownies got to do… and then I invited some friends from my class at school to join my Club after school at my house..

You jogged my memory to go out and offer the space to host the community I most want to be part of.

Now to bag that domain name I have been procrastinating over for months!

  3. That’s a lovely reminder! It also clarified for me that “throwing your hat over the wall” requires courage, because eventually it equals “putting your head above the parapet” – showing ourselves to others as we are, with what we want. That can feel like a fairly vulnerable place to be!

  4. II feel stuck and I don’t know what to do next. I’m trying to decide what step to take next and it is frustrating —Ugh!!!! 😑 I’m reading Launch 🚀 for inspiration —wanted to go to your event but couldn’t .. hopefully next time. Anyway i’m so glad I found out about you because I feel closer than I’ve ever been to success — i just simply have to figure out my next step so thank you 🙏🏽 I am grateful ✌🏼

  5. I guess game starts beyond the comfort zone .. thanks for motivating me to start the journey which was in planning stage but never took off … I started putting the shots for my Masterclass together…

  6. Thank you for caring about sharing your experiences and even your advice. I am fortunate to have many friends in all corners of the world that they care about. One God bless you … Amen.

  7. I wish I knew what my FIRST step should be, let alone my NEXT step. I watched the Launch vids you did a little while back. It was around 9 hours so it was a small sacrifice but I was excited to get to it. I have been involved in an industry that big tobacco and now the gov. wants to get rid of. I spent years getting to know the industry and even started a small eBay store which got shut down right after I spent all of my profits getting product. This industry moves fast and in six months anything I still have is now considered “old”. I basically had to start all over because I lost what I had. I know I can do it. Be successful that is but I am somewhat afraid of doing it in the industry I have a passion for because of what I just wrote. Ever notice how easy it is to see what other people should do but looking in the mirror is much more difficult. Anywho, I’m not giving up. I just don’t know where to go from here.

I said all of that, to say this. ” Your vlog’s are a source of encouragement when I am ready to give up.”
    Thanks for that.
    Daniel

  8. Thank you, Jeff. That is my philosophy too. Thank you for reminding us that we can make a bigger pie and help others see that too. Im at Launchcon, my first time, and it is AMAZING! That you for all you do for your community. I just joined Launch Club and I’m sooooooo excited!

  9. Hi Jeff,

I have been following you for awhile now, and I know the time is coming for m to throw my own hat over the fence.

  10. Hi Jeff,
My next step is to put myself more out there on YouTube. I have done some videos but I need to do more on a consistent level. I need to tell my story and that is where I have to get out of my comfort zone and be vulnerable. I know many will connect with me when I do this….just have to push myself to do it.
Then my following will increase. I have a small community in my private Facebook group, that would then grow.
MORE VIDEOS!! TELL MY STORY. Ķlķ
That is my next step. 😊

    Cheers,
    Diane

  11. Hi Jeff – Great video. Yes, there is more than enough pie for all. Wealth is like good health, you can create your own without having to deprive others of theirs. My big decision is to shift from being 100% a copywriting service business to at least a 50% online copywriting instruction business, so I have much more leverage instead of trading hours for dollars.

  12. Hi Jeff

This is perfectly timed! I am literally just embarking on a very similar thing to what you did when you created your platinum group – because you didn’t want to do it all alone. That is exactly how I feel! I’ve lots of ideas and have been learning so much about online marketing as well as how to create a business that is about helping people – but still hadn’t thrown my hat over the fence, even though I knew that’s where I wanted to be…

But now – without me even making the decision to create this – my own ‘platinum group’ has manifested in the form of two other entrepreneurial women, one of whom I only met a couple of months ago. I think we should probably call ourselves the ‘golden group’ as all three of us are ‘golden girls’, lol – – but with a lifetime of experience!

My decision: to say ‘yes’ to this project we are about to launch over the festive period, and believe we can and will pull it off, even though it seems scary and risky right now.

  13. I love the idea of creating a community to support you. Servants serve others. Win-win. <3

  14. Hi Jeff,

Enjoyed this piece. Decisions are hard for many as they mean commitment. I have to decide between two launch paths and it isn’t an easy decision to make. I have my domains, got the products started, but which is the right one to do first? My decision is to take that fork in the road by this coming Wednesday at 12 noon. Whatever I decide I will stick to until that product is launched. I will allow myself to develop the other idea but it must be on back-burner status until the first launch. I have an idea of which I will choose but just in case I cannot decide I will be literally flipping a coin mid day Wednesday.

    Thanks Jeff
    Wish I was there.

    Alan

  15. Hi Jeff, my big decision is to keep working towards my own first launch. I’m going through PLF right now and trying to figure out if I can do this! You’re giving me the confidence to go for it. Thank you!

  16. As a woman from saufdi Arabia now that is an adventure.. I’ve watched all ur series of master class and u can not ensigns how this encouraged me to finish my online course.. was doing my free videos already and somehow they had impact on people with God’s help.. am a healer in a new, clear and simple technique that am teaching it to people now.. selling all what I know to people to heal their physical and emotional pain.. my goal is to let people know how to do it so the pain will stop forever.. my next step is to launch my course and it’s making me panic so when I think that baby step and one step at a time as u mentioned in ur video that is a relief.. doing it.. one step at a time and hopefully it will reach u so u can buy it and get the benefit as u have benefited me with ur course.. reach the whole world.. wish I can meet u and listen to what U have got to say about this after me being successful in launching and selling my online course 🙂 .. love u Jeff.. I swear it has been very hard to go out and do the videos and all this technology from a place that no one knows about what am talking about but doing it and learning all by myself .. I know am Gona make it since I want people to get the Benefit.. pray for me .

  17. Right on – thank you for continuing to share the journey with us – I’m inspired and taking steps and they are bringing in results – very excited. And it’s so amazing to see people showing up and I have no idea where they came from 😉

  18. Thanks for sharing the latest and greatest ideas for growing the pie and getting a slice. You’re right about not trying to go it alone beyond a certain point. Wearing more than one hat may be necessary at the start, but eventually limits growth. Learning to delegate responsibility is crucial to success.

  19. I know the feeling, I also feel lost. All I know is how to help others and desperately try to find direction and inspiration from others.

  20. Thank you, Sir Jeff for the wonderful time sharing your insights, helping lots of people that resulted to a powerhouse industry and for helping me/us realized about getting a bigger slice of pie in the business industry. Hope to join your launch conference next time.

Congratulations! More power and more blessings!

  21. I’ve not heard that expression before about throwing your hat over the fence. I like that. I’m going to think on that one and figure out what I can do to throw my hat over the fence.

    Thanks for that one Jeff!

  22. Great video. The one thing I am going to do is upgrade our facilities At our pony club . I will literally be throwing my hat over my new fences 😂😂😂

  23. My decision is to get my hat over that fence and keep going in unforeseen territories.

  24. Hi, in the first part you say: I’m doing is alone and sick of it. Then you realize the Plat Plus group. Isn’t that a mastermind in which people still look at you for the inspiration? How is it that you’re not still pulling the cart, in a sense doing that part alone?
I’m guessing you will answer the Plat group is inspiring so much with stories and questions, that it sort of rolls forth from there, giving you the feeling you’re in it together? Or did you bring people together that are co-collegues?

    Hey Jeff,
Many thanks and blessings for your continued encouragement and guidance.

  26. Hi, Jeff!

We made our one big decision a couple of months ago: to go all-in on our idea for an online course to help people suffering in relationships with partners who have narcissistic personality disorder identify the abuse, navigate the legal system, and heal themselves and their families.

But then, at LaunchCon, with seven minutes left on the clock, we made another big decision: we threw our hats over the fence and joined Launch Club! We’ve just gotten started and we’re even more convinced than ever that we are in the right place!

    Best…

    Chris (and Lisa)
