When it comes to launching a business, the spotlight often falls on the offer. But execution can make or break even the most brilliant offer.
In this post, I’ll share insights from a candid conversation I had with Jay Papasan, co-author of The One Thing. We dove into the pressures of launching, the mindset required to succeed, and why execution is critical to the success of your campaign.
The Real Challenge of Every Launch
When Jay asked what keeps me up at night during a launch, my answer was simple: execution.
Here’s the truth: launches are complex. They’re packed with moving parts – from coordinating teams to managing joint venture (JV) partners and handling unexpected challenges like market shifts or global events. And when you’re teaching others how to launch, the stakes feel even higher.
I’ve been fortunate to complete over 20 consecutive million-dollar launches. But it’s not luck. It’s about focusing on what I can control and executing with precision.
Control What You Can, Let Go of the Rest
Here’s a lesson I’ve learned over the years: you can’t control everything. New events, partner engagement, or even how the world reacts to your offer – those things are beyond your reach.
But what can you control?
- Your messaging: Make sure your communication is clear and consistent.
- Your presence: Show up with energy and authenticity.
- The experience: Create an environment where people feel connected and valued.
If you focus on delivering value and building relationships, the sales will follow.
Building Confidence Through Small Wins
Launching isn’t just a logistical challenge – it’s a mental one. Fear of failure can cripple even the most promising entrepreneurs.
For those just starting, my advice is to:
▶ Celebrate small wins. Even if it’s your first launch, you’ve achieved successes in other areas of life. Build on those.
▶ Protect your mindset. Your thoughts shape your outcomes. Focus on what’s possible, not what could go wrong.
▶ Lean on your community. Surround yourself with people who uplift and inspire you.
Every successful launch begins in the mind. The confidence to execute starts with recognizing your potential and taking small, deliberate steps forward.
Leading a Team Through Launch Pressures
One of the most critical aspects of execution is leading your team. Over the years, I’ve worked with some of the most talented individuals in the industry. They thrive on challenges and love setting ambitious goals.
But tying success to a specific number can be risky. External factors – things we can’t control – might impact results. Instead, I encourage my team to focus on execution metrics:
– Did we stick to our plan?
– Did we give our best effort?
– Did we deliver value to our audience?
When you focus on the process rather than the outcome, you eliminate regret. You might feel disappointed if things don’t go as planned, but you’ll know you did everything possible to create the best outcome.
Showing Up With Your Whole Heart
A great offer means nothing without great execution. Even the world’s most irresistible product will fail if you can’t deliver it effectively.
Execution ensures your message is heard, the audience feels connected, and you deliver value that builds trust and loyalty.
In my experience, showing up with full heart, energy, and commitment matters more than the flashiest offer or the biggest promises.
A Final Word on Supporting a Launch
Jay asked me a question that’s close to my heart: “What’s one thing we can do to support your launch?”
My answer? Show up.
Tell your friends: bring your energy, and be ready to learn.
Every year, I pour everything I have into delivering what I jokingly call the world’s second-best training on launching – because the best training is inside my paid programs. But even the free training has transformed lives. I’ve heard countless stories from people who’ve launched successful businesses just by applying what they learned in my free Masterclass.
Show up, bring your friends, and immerse yourself in a community that’s all about growth and success.
