What Does Your Future Look Like?
Hey, it's Jeff Walker, and today I want to talk about your future, specifically your plan for the future.
I was thinking back to a day when I spent time with my coach, Dan Sullivan, who is an amazing thought leader. He challenged me to come up with my 25-year plan.
This exercise forced me to think deeply about where I want to go & how I want to get there.
Think back five or ten years. Could you have imagined where you are today?
Ten years ago, I certainly couldn't have predicted I'd be here, sharing my thoughts with you here, reaching thousands of people.
So, the idea of thinking and planning for 25 years from now – on one hand, it seems almost crazy.
We don't know where the world's going to be.
Envisioning Your Life in 25 Years
Here’s what I mean by vision: Picture your health, your relationships, your finances, your business, your impact, and your overall life.
What do you want them to be like in 25 years? How do you want your relationships with your kids to evolve?
It’s about creating a clear picture of where you want to go, even if the details might change along the way.
So I can have that vision, and sure, whatever I'm doing, who knows… 25 years is amazing.
The Plan is Nothing, But Planning is Everything
President Eisenhower said, “The plan is nothing. But planning is everything.”
So the idea is that when you create a plan, one thing we know is that not everything is going to go according to plan.
So that's why the plan is nothing. But going through that planning process is incredible because of what it brings to you.
I've been watching Michael Hyatt's videos for his course “Best Year Ever” – and they're great because they take you through the process.
You need to have a planning process so that you can design your life. That was a phrase I got from Tony Robbins – design your life and where you're going.
There's another quote that I love: if you don't know where you're going, any road can take you there.
Well, I want to know where I'm going & I want to build the road to get there.
Planning Beyond the Immediate Future
No matter the time of year, it's always a good moment to start thinking about the future. And I want to encourage you to think about that – and plan your next year.
Don't just plan your next project or your next email or the next thing you're going to do – but plan your next year. Plan your next three years. Plan your next 25 years.
Remember, even though the plan will certainly not be correct, it won't be perfect, but the planning process is absolutely incredible.
The Growth Mindset for Business Success
Developing a growth mindset for launch involves understanding that the journey is as important as the destination.
Here’s how you can start:
- Set Clear Goals: Define what you want to achieve in the next year, the next three years, and the next 25 years.
- Visualize Your Success: Imagine where you want to be in both your personal and professional life.
- Stay Flexible: Accept that not everything will go as planned, but the act of planning is what prepares you for whatever comes your way.
Business Mindset 101
A strong business launch mindset 101 means continuously learning and adapting. It's about having the resilience to face challenges and the vision to look beyond immediate obstacles.
So here are some key takeaways:
- Reflect on the Past: Think about where you were 5 or 10 years ago and how much has changed.
- Dream Big: Don’t be afraid to set ambitious long-term goals.
- Plan Regularly: Make planning a habit, not a one-time event.
- Stay Positive: Keep a positive attitude and a growth mindset, even when things don’t go as planned.
Road to Your Future
So, how can you take these ideas & put them into action?
Block out some time to map out your long-term goals and break them down into smaller, manageable steps.
Create a vision board to visualize your goals and keep them front and center. Regularly reflect on your progress and adjust your plans as needed.
By doing this, you'll ensure that you're always moving forward with purpose & clarity with a mindset for business growth & personal fulfillment.
Start planning, start achieving, and never look back.
