If you’re an entrepreneur, you’re probably pretty busy… it kind of comes with the territory. And right now, I’m just a few days away from LaunchCon, my biggest event of the year. I’ll be hanging out with more than 1,000 people in Phoenix starting this Friday. So what am I doing on a canoe in the middle of the wilderness?

Video Transcript and Relevant Links

Hey, I'm on a river trip on the Green River with my wife and daughter. We're in Utah for a weekend. We're just about to take out in another half hour. We'll get to the take out, and the trip will be done.

I was thinking about way back in 2013, one of the first weekly videos I did for you was from a trip on the same stretch of river here on the Green River. So that was I think 2013 – so it's been a long time – six years or something of weekly videos. And I've shot on many different watercraft. I'm in a canoe now. So this would be the fourth watercraft that I can think of. Anywhere from a big huge sailing catamaran, to a standup paddleboard, and everything in-between.

And I think one of the reasons I try to shoot these videos for you from different areas and from the wild (I've shot videos for many river trips for you), is I think I'm just to be a voice for… we're all busy, we're all entrepreneurs. That means by definition we're super busy, and we've got too much going on. And I think I just always want to be the voice for sanity in your business and sanity in your life. And actually building a business that gives you a great life.

And I know when you start out, I know when I started out I was struggling and scrambling and there's a time where you have to hustle, but there's also a time where you need to kick back. And I think if you're going to be creative, you need to build this in. And for me, the wilderness is where I recharge. This is where I do the work.

I was just talking to my friend Eben Pagan and we were talking about the work we had left to do in the world. And I said to him, “I've got a lot of work to do in the world, and it begins for me out in the woods, or out on the river, out in the wilderness. Because that's where I recharge. That's what gives me the energy to keep on driving my business and our entire movement forward.”

So yeah, just another voice from the wilderness, a cry from the wilderness to build that time in for yourself, so you can recharge. And I know not everyone's got the easy access to wilderness that I do, but I believe that wilderness is an important thing for humans. That to have where we can actually get out into the wild, and experience the wild, and see the night sky – I think the wilderness is an incredibly valuable thing for us as humans. So here's a cry for the wilderness, and from the wilderness.

That's all I got for you. It's been a very, very peaceful week. I'm going to come back, recharged.

We're about to go into our big LaunchCon event, and it's just the juxtaposition from being out here in the utter wilderness to go down for another week, a couple of weeks, and I'm going to be on stage in front of a thousand people. It's just magical that I get to experience this, and I'm just really grateful and really happy.

For those of you who are going to be at LaunchCon, I'm looking forward to seeing you. And for those of you who aren't going to be there, figure out some way to recharge yourself as an entrepreneur. You need to do that. You need to build that into your life.

That's all I got for you. Let's go get ‘em this week.

    Hi Jeff
Good to see you are enjoying the wild outdoors… where the water and the sky meet…and all the animals and the like in between…the smell of the water and the trees and all vegetation, you can see, feel and touch all at the same time… reminds me of my home in: Newfoundland.
    Take care

  2. You are soooo right on!! I choose not to be in the “way of the world” hurry up, work harder for more money and things. I prefer to enjoy this life now, too… practice in serving is my vocation. It’s served me well. Now is a challenging time for me. Change needs to take place. It’s going to require some very tough decisions for my life going forward and my “business” and serving call. It’s slowly coming but not here yet. Thank you for being your Self and sharing. It’s so validating for all that follow you!! I’ve been to the wilderness with you since you started videos… like the one that stands out (maybe your first video) where you were outside, in front of the building where you were attending a seminar in 2013.
Keep doing what you do!!! It works!! Thank you, Jeff!

  3. Couldn’t agree more! And thanks for mentioning the night sky, one of my closest allies.

Wilderness gets my vote every single day. Deep inhale. But we two-leggeds have to fight for it, cuz we’re closing in on it as a race. I like this quote by the poet W. S. Merwin (who recently passed):
“I don’t like using the word ‘environment,’ I don’t like the word ‘nature,’ because those terms make it seem as though we’re not nature.” Immersing in what sustains us can only be inspiring! : )

And I love, love, love your videos out in the wild. I always feel the fresh air when watching you on Sundays.

  4. wow this river trip looks so serene and peaceful. nature therapy!!, “reduces insanity in life” Wonderful video. Wishing you all the best at your upcoming LaunchCon event next week in Phoenix. #Wilderness
